THE age of chivalry will return to the Red House Glass Cone this bank holiday.

Knights in shining armour will be patrolling Dudley Council’s heritage Wordsley tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday (May 5) at a free medieval family event.

The metal-wearing soldiers will demonstrate how knights used their weapons and answer questions on anything ranging from the code of chivalry to the finer points of jousting and armour preparation.

Visitors of all ages are welcome to dress up as knights, kings, queens, princes and princesses. Younger guests who don’t have their own medieval wardrobe can try on supplied costumes.

Fearless warriors can also have a go at using a replica trebouchet- a large medieval catapult.

The ever-popular free duck trail will allow eagle-eyed hunters will need to search for plastic ducks complete with knight helmets and games and crafts will be laid on.

In addition, the hot glass studio will be running glassblowing demonstrations each day from 10am to 4pm John Millar, director of the urban environment at Dudley Council, said: “We hope that this popular event will capture the interest and imagination of visitors of all ages.”
