Wordsley's Red House Glass Cone to host spring craft fair
8:00am Monday 12th May 2014 in News
WORDSLEY’S Red House Glass Cone will be laying on music, arts, a craft fair and maypole dancing next weekend.
The annual spring craft market returns to the Camp Hill site on Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18 and will include live music and dancing.
Stalls will be selling hand-crafted items including jewellery, hand-sewn and knitted items, paintings, woodwork, photographs and decoupage – and visitors will also have chance to make their own gifts.
Glassmaking demonstrations will run on both days, and adults and children can have a go themselves at various arts and crafts activities hosted by the cone’s creative tenants – for a small fee.
Stourbridge artist Luke Perry will also be providing street entertainment from midday to 3pm on the Saturday –and a performance by acoustic folk-rock-pop music band Journeyman will follow from 6pm to 8pm.
On Sunday, popular Stourbridge Morris dancers Bedcote Morris will perform between midday and 4pm. The Red Cone Coffee House will also be open throughout the weekend.
John Millar, Dudley’s director of the urban environment at Dudley Council, which runs the Red House Glass Cone, said: “The spring fair is always hugely popular and this year we’ve expanded the event to include music and dance on top of the ever popular arts and crafts. “It should prove to be a great day out for families and individuals alike.”
Admission to the spring craft fair is free.
