THIS year's Wordsley Festival Princess competition has been cancelled at the last minute due to a lack of entries.

The event, which has been going strong for more than a decade, had been due to take place this Saturday May 17 at the Ashwood Inn, Bells Lane, Wordsley.

But Wordsley Festival chairman Mick Davies said: "We have not had any applications, emails or phone calls at all. This is surprising as in the past we have been inundated with calls after being in the Stourbridge News - so at this late stage we have decided not to go ahead."

The main Wordsley Festival fun day will still go ahead in King George V Park, Bells Lane, on Saturday June 14.

Stunt team Savage Skills and K9 Quackers Sheepdog and Duck Display will be among the attractions at the event, which will run from noon to 5pm.
