ELDERLY residents from Oriel Care Home, Oldswinford, proved age is no barrier when it came to doing their bit for Sport Relief.

Inspired by the sterling efforts which Davina McCall went through, the residents polished up their zimmer frames and walking sticks to embark on a half mile walk from their premises in Hagley Road to Ibstock Drive.

Care manager Jane Linford, who came up with the idea, said: "We had a wonderful time and raised over £500. Most of the residents are over 90 years old, we even had a 99-year-old take part - but they were all determined to do their bit and everyone of them took part bar one, who was ill at the time.

"Some of them walked under their own steam, some had to be assisted and some were pushed, but they all made it round.

"We've supported a number of charities in the past such as Macmillan Nurses, AGE UK and The Pocklington Trust."
