A LUCKY Black Country couple have tied the knot after winning the wedding of their dreams.

Craig Perry and Mandy Farmer, both aged 45, became man and wife at a ceremony at Priory Hall, Dudley, on Friday (May 16).

The loved-up Oldbury couple won the wedding, worth £320, after entering a competition at the Grade II listed venue’s wedding open day last year.

Craig, a warehouse team leader, said: “We had only recently got engaged when we went to the wedding open day. We wanted to get married at Priory Hall because it’s a beautiful register office, and while we were at the wedding fayre we were advised to have a go at putting our name in the hat to win a wedding.

“We never thought we’d win and afterwards we went out to the supermarket without even considering it. When we got back we found an answerphone message telling us that we’d won. At first we didn’t think we’d heard correctly so we played it back a few times before we believed it."

The newlywed added: “We’re still so chuffed. It’s been an amazing day. Everything has been just as we’d imagine it and even the weather was kind to us.”

Penny Fulford, superintendant registrar at Priory Hall, who married the couple, was also the brainchild behind the competition.

She said: “Our free wedding competition is always a highlight of our annual open day. It’s hotly contested and there’s a real buzz about it. “I’m absolutely delighted for Craig and Mandy. They were thrilled with the wedding and I’m pleased that we have been able to help them host their magnificent day.”
