A STOURBRIDGE man who joined the Royal Navy to serve his country and travel the world is currently waiting to join his first ship.

Lewis Grant, aged 20, has recently graduated as a weapons engineer from HMS Collingwood, Hampshire.

He completed a five-month course at the Maritime Warfare School, where he learnt about weapon systems, safety procedures, electrical and electronic repair techniques and the basics of hydraulics and pneumatics.

Lewis also represented the Navy when they provided support to local Hampshire communities that suffered flooding during the recent storms.

He said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, I look forward to furthering my professional career whilst travelling.”
