STUDENTS from the Prince's Trust have been digging deep to help improve facilities at Kinver Scout Camp.

They have been digging, fencing, installing tyre flower and vegetable beds while providing a scented herb area as well.

The youngsters also built a fire pitted area and a wormery, making an insect and bee hotel as well as creating a story telling area for children.

They were also helped by local firefighters to build bird boxes while schoolchildren lent a helping hand with the planting.

The students funded the project themselves following a supermarket bag packing session while also organising a fun day at Walsall Fire Station.

Team leader Jane Littlehales said: "The students put their hearts and souls into both the fund raising and the community project.

"They went the extra mile to make sure the project was completed on time and came in on budget. Nothing was too much trouble for them."

The Prince’s Trust Team programme gives unemployed young people aged 16 to 25 the chance to learn new skills and improve their confidence and self-esteem through outdoor activities, community work and work experience.

The programme launched in 1990 and City of Wolverhampton College has been delivering courses across the Black Country since September 2000 with more than 2,000 young people taking part.
