A YEAR'S free energy is up for grabs for those signing up to Dudley Council’s big switch campaign.

Householders have until Monday (June 9) to register for the summer energy saving auction, which offers residents the chance to secure a better tariff from suppliers.

iChoosr, the company which acts as an intermediary between the council and the energy suppliers, is offering people that register the chance to be entered into a free prize draw to win a year’s free energy if also refer five friends or family.

To be entered for the competition, all the people referred, must also have registered for the scheme. It's the fourth auction that the council has been involved with - the first three saw around 2,500 households take part to see if they could switch and save.

The next big switch auction, which takes place on June 10, is free to join and there is no obligation to switch as people may already be on the best tariff possible and not in line for a saving.

The more people who register, the better the deal but anyone taking part will need to have details of their latest energy bill on hand to complete the registration process. Councillor David Sparks, leader of Dudley Council, said: “Although the weather is warming up, now is the time for people to look at switching their energy providers to get a good price for their fuel ahead of this winter.

“And with just over a week to go before the registration closes, I would urge people to sign up now to be in with a chance of winning free energy for a year as well as reducing their energy bills.”

Once the auction has taken place, the successful energy companies will write to registrants with their offer.
