A DOG that was taken from its Black Country home by two men posing as staff from a local vets has been found safe and well.

Blue, a grey Weimaraner, was taken from Huntingtree Road, Halesowen, on Thursday (May 29) after his owner had called what she believed to be Vets4Pets, using a number she found on the internet.

Two men driving a white van with the company name written on the side, came to collect him at around 1pm and take him to the Halesowen branch.

But later that afternoon when the owner popped into Vets4Pets on Stourbridge Road, to check on her dog, she found the vets had no record of Blue and do not offer a collection service for pets.

Following a police appeal for information on his whereabouts, Blue was found unattended in the Worcester area.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: β€œHe appears fit and well but is now at his registered vets in Halesowen to get a full check-up.”

The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information on the two men who took Blue from his home is urged to contact Dudley police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
