THERE will be glass galore at a Kingswinford museum today (Saturday) with the return of Paperweight Day.

Talented glassmaker Richard Golding will make a guest appearance at Broadfield House Glass Museum to demonstrate his own innovative paperweight making techniques.

Mr Golding, the founder of Okra Glass and was the museum's first resident glassmaker, running the Hot Glass Studio from 1981 to 1985.

A wide variety of paperweights will be for sale from specialist dealers, Steve Rowe and Just Glass and The Paperweight Collectors Circle will exhibit an array of weights by the famous Whitefriars factory.

John Millar, director of the urban environment at Dudley Council, which runs the museum, said: “It’s wonderful to welcome Richard Golding back to the museum for paperweight day as he was our first ever resident glass maker.

“The day is always immensely popular and has a loyal following, but it’s not just for seasoned collectors.

"Families and children should really enjoy seeing how paperweights are made and the range of beautiful and sometimes quirky pieces that can result.”

The event runs from 10am to 4pm.

Admission is free.
