STOURBRIDGE is set for another three restaurants after planners approved a development on land off the town’s ring road.
Dudley’s development control committee gave the go–ahead for the buildings on a site close to St John’s Road and Mill Race Lane previously occupied by the AD Hayes industrial unit which has now been demolished.
The new units, two of which will have drive-through facilities, will include a McDonalds and KFC, with the occupier of the third unit yet to be announced.
During the meeting, at Dudley Council House on June 9, committee member Cllr Hazel Turner raised concerns about traffic backlogs on the busy ring road caused by drivers queuing to use the restaurants.
Cllr Turner was told traffic would circulate around the industrial estate to the rear of the proposed development and was unlikely to cause disruption.
In a report for the committee, planning officers said the plan was in keeping with the surrounding area and recommended approval.
West Midlands Police said they will be suggesting improvements to the design to tackle a possible rise in anti-social behaviour which may be caused by groups of youths congregating around the new restaurants.
