BLACK Country favourites The Fizzogs were among the acts entertaining the crowds at this year's Wordsley Festival.

The laugh-a-minute theatre group brought their distinctive blend of comedy and chaos to the event which was held in Wordsley's King George V Park on Saturday June 14.

Festival chairman Mick Davies said: "The Fizzogs were a real crowd-stopper. They went down a treat. I'm so pleased we managed to get them. They're going to come again next year."

A host of other groups and organisations also kept people of all ages amused and enthralled throughout the fun-day, which was officially opened at midday by Dudley's new Mayor - councillor Margaret Aston.

The day also saw dynamic stunts performed by international BMX riders Savage Skills and demonstrations by K9 Quackers Sheepdog and Duck Display, the 2488 (Kingswinford) Squadron Cadet Band and Pedmore Panthers Dance Troupe.

There were also performances by the Empty Can Band, who have put the Black Country on the map with their song I Vow To Thee Black Country , African drummers and hospital radio DJs.

Other attractions include a host of charity and trade stalls and the Thomas Jones fun fair, which also offered free rides for the disabled on the Thursday before festival day.
