A Brierley Hill man who attacked his former partner has been told he must stay behind bars.
James Snatchfold was sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment for the assault by Dudley Magistrates.
But the 22-year-old father of two appealed against the sentence at Wolverhampton Crown Court on the grounds it was excessive.
Recorder Peter Cooke dismissed his appeal and told him, "You have a long established track record of non-compliance with court orders."
He said Snatchfold, of St Mary's Court, maintained he had now come to terms with his problems adding: "I reject that."
The Recorder told Snatchfold his actions over the years spoke volumes about his conduct towards his former partner.
Liz D'Oliveira, for Snatchfold, said her client had finally accepted he had problems involving domestic abuse and he was now determined to put his life in order.
She told the court he had not enjoyed his time in custody adding: "He knows he needs to deal with the issues."
