KINVER folk will be rocking to the beat this Saturday when the village plays host to it's very first summer music event.

All types of music will be featured at Kinver Music 2014 which starts from noon at local pubs, cafes and restaurants. Even the church has joined in.

There'll be something for everyone as acts range from rock and pop to blues, soul, classical and modern.

The event stemmed from an idea by Kinver musician Tim Charnock, who was inspired by the success of Kinfayre.

Fellow organiser Jane Sadler said: "It's the first time we've tried something like this and I just hope that people will come and support us.

"All the local pubs have come on board along with cafes and restaurants. There'll be live music everywhere."

Stourbridge blues artist Ian Parker provides the headline act and he'll be appearing at Dunsley Hall Hotel at 6pm, supported by Tim Charnock's own band The Healers, along with other artists.

There's also an open mic event taking place at the Royal Exchange pub and organisers have appealed for musicians to turn up and perform.

Jane Sadler added: " It's a wonderful opportunity for any up and coming local talent to showcase what they can do.

"If the event is a success, we would consider staging it every year.

"Every venue is providing their own programme of events, so we're in their hands to some extent. But I've been encouraged by the amount of enthusiasm and the willingness of people to get on board.

"If all goes well, I'd like to get the local schools involved next time, because I believe there's plenty of talent there."

Other highlights include an appearance by classical harpist Helen Barley who will feature at St Peter's Church from 3.30pm while further live music will be taking place at The Vine, The Cross, Baci Restaurant, The White Harte, Kinfayre Coffee House, plus The Plough and Harrow. Admission is free at every venue.

Kinver Music 2014 is being sponsored by Enville Brewery, Bathams Ales and Kinver Brewery.
