A KINGSWINFORD primary school has unveiled a new 3D floor art playground, believed to be the first of its kind in the West Midlands.

St Mary's Primary School officially opened the striking play facility, created in partnership with The Kingswinford School and 3D specialists Street Advertising Services, on June 23.

Art club students from The Kingswinford School and key stage two pupils from St Mary's Primary School worked to produce imaginative scenes for the new-look play area which St Mary's headteacher Linda Perkins said "looks amazing".

Kingswinford School community co-ordinator David Cotterill came up with the idea for the project after being impressed by the eye-catching work of SAS - and Mrs Perkins then offered a new tarmac-covered play area as a blank canvas for the art work.

Mr Cotterill said: "This is an excellent project for both schools, which has inspired everyone and will benefit many children in the future."
