QUARRY Bank motorists face two weeks of delays as resurfacing work gets underway.

The work on High Street (A4100), will take place between the roundabout at Park Road and the Dudley borough boundary at Cradley Forge from Monday July 28.

A new 20mph zone will also be installed in the vicinity of Quarry Bank Primary School.

The majority of work will be undertaken on weekdays between 9.30am and 3.30pm and during these hours, the road will be closed to traffic heading towards Merry Hill and Brierley Hill.

One section of the road, from the roundabout at Park Road to Queen Street, will be laid overnight during a complete road closure on Friday August 1, diversion routes will be sign posted throughout.

Once the resurfacing is finished, the road markings and high friction surfacing will be reinstated.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for transportation said: “We are undertaking this resurfacing work during the school summer holidays when the roads are quieter.

“Other than one evening the roads will remain passable at all times but we are asking people to allow extra time for possible delays.

“I would like to thank our residents, businesses and motorists for their patience as we undertake this important work.”
