YOUNGSTERS at a Wollaston primary school have earned themselves community awards for their extra-curricular antics during the year.

Children at The Ridge Primary School in Gregory Road were presented with Rotary Junior Community Awards on Friday July 11 after devoting a year to learning new activities and skills and volunteering within the community.

Over the last 12 months pupils attended community meetings and celebratory events, arts and religious occasions; they also learned about different cultures and honed new skills such as sewing and model-making.

Headteacher Deb Hudson said: "They've been involved in lots of different things throughout the year and they really have been committed."

The school has been taking part in the Rotary Club awards scheme for the last eight years.
