TWO exhausted keepers from Dudley Zoo exceeded all expectations after taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge to help raise funds for endangered Sulawesi black macaques.
Primate keepers Nicola Wright from Wollaston and Steph Sawyer of Stourton were hoping to try and raise a total of £2,000 for the Selamatkan Yaki conservation programme in Indonesia which is trying to save the primates.
But thanks to the generosity of zoo visitors, the pair have raised £2,653.78 for their efforts thanks to sponsorship and a bucket collection at the Dudley tourist attraction which raised £111 alone.
The pair, along with eight other keepers from zoos around the country, had to scale Scotland's Ben Nevis, Snowdonia in Wales and Scafell Pike in Cumbria all within 24 hours.
Nicola, who is 31, said: "Steph and I both absolutely loved the experience and I would do it all over again but it was probably the most hardest and physical thing we've ever done.
"We were both totally exhausted at the end."
