VILLAGERS can keep fit at a Clent park after the installation of council-funded gym equipment.

Bromsgrove District Council has funded the £34,000 facility for visitors to the Pool Furlong park, which also saw investment from planning monies.

The outdoor gym includes a chest press, space walker and pedal cycle and is free to use for park users.

The gym was officially opened by Bromsgrove District Council's civic head, Councillor John Ruck, on July 15.

Councillor Michael Webb, whose portfolio includes leisure, said: “We are committed to encouraging our residents to lead a healthier lifestyle and we are aware that expensive gym memberships can put people off.

“It’s free to use this equipment at anytime and you get to enjoy this beautiful park at the same time.”

Cllr Ruck added: "What a marvellous facility – I am delighted to cut the ribbon on this and hope it will be enjoyed by everyone.”

The gym already includes a skateboard park, trim trail and play area.
