STOURBRIDGE MP Margot James has spoken of her delight at becoming Parliamentary Private Secretary to William Hague.
The Conservative MP was given the new job working for the former Foreign Secretary turned Leader of the House of Commons in a reshuffle before breaking up for summer.
She previously served as PPS to Trade Minister Lord Livingston for two-and-a-half years.
Although long tipped for a Cabinet position – she said she’s happy with the new role, which she described as a “minor step up”, and said she was “sorry to have disappointed people” who expected her to get a promotion this time.
She added, however: “I’ve got over it now and I’m very pleased to be working for William Hague. As a former leader of the Conservative Party and a cabinet member of the first rank, he’s a man I admire more than any other; I’ve got a huge respect for him. He’s a tremendously impressive and delightful man.”
