LOYAL Janey Beasley has always been quick to show support after her eldest friend was diagnosed with breast cancer 15 years ago.

Since then, the 56-year-old who lives in Clifton Street in Stourbridge's Old Quarter has raised thousands for the charity Women Against Cancer.

And she has just boosted their coffers further by having her head shaved in front of a packed audience at Tulip Hair Salon, Norton, where owner Amy Watton performed the feat.

More than 40 friends squeezed into the salon to witness the event and raised £400 in the process.

Janey said: "My friend Caro Heyworth has been fighting cancer for the past 15 years.

"She was about to lose her hair again for the fourth or fifth time, so I told her we'd both go bald together."

Janey, who is also known as 'The Bag Queen', runs her own business in Brettell Lane where she makes and sells bags in addition to teaching all forms of needlecraft.

She added: "So many of us have been touched by someone we know who is suffering from cancer, but it's my supporters who do all the hard work."

Janey doesn't intend to rest on her laurels and plans to take part in 'Ride the Night' - a 100km cycle ride around London - in May 2015.

Already her online JustGiving page has raised £1,200 and anyone who would like to make a donation can go to www.justgiving.com/janey-beasleybigbaldyhead.
