DUDLEY people gathered to show their anger at the conflict in Gaza which has cost the lives of around 1,800 people.
Between 250 and 300 protestors took to the streets of the town centre for a peace and justice vigil in Stone Street Square on August 1 to hear a number of speakers condemn violence.
Fighting has been going on in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza during a major military offensive by Israel which it claims is necessary to stop cross-border attacks on Israeli citizens.
The anti-war demonstration in Dudley, which lasted from 5.30pm to 6.50pm, was organised by the Stourbridge Palestine Solidarity Group and had the support of Dudley’s deputy leader, Cllr Pete Lowe.
Cllr Lowe said: “It is appalling what is going on in Gaza, I mourn the loss of any innocent life. One hundred years after the start of the First World War and innocent lives are still being lost – it’s got to stop.”
