TWO Stourbridge fish and chip shops are frying to be the best in the Midlands.
The chips are down as Merchants in Worcester Street tries to hold on to its title as the region's best independent takeaway fish and chip shop.
But Wollaston Fish Bar in Bridgnorth Road, is also in with a chance of netting the honour as part of the 2015 National Fish and Chip Awards.
The local fryers will now compete against each other and four others chip shops in a bid to be crowned the regional winner and bag a place in the national final.
Loucas Partali, who has owned the Wollaston chippy for 15 years, said: "It's a great achievement. I'm very proud of my staff because without their good service, we wouldn't be here as we are marked on service and the quality of food.
"As a fish and chip shop owner, I've always said one day I want to win the award."
The winner will be announced in October.
