BLACK Country bikers have been saying prayers for a popular Stourbridge Motorcycle Club member who was critically injured in a crash with a van.

David Clarke, known as Wolf, was left fighting for his life after the collision on Tuesday which happened just before 7.20am at the junction of Stourbridge Road and Wellington Road.

Mr Clarke, believed to be aged 40 and from Dudley, suffered a serious head injury in the smash which saw him thrown 20 feet from the three-wheeled Suzuki trike he had been riding on his way to work in Stourbridge.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “It quickly became apparent that the man had suffered a significant head injury in the incident as well as a suspected fractured pelvis.

“Due to the serious nature of his injuries, the doctor gave him an anaesthetic at the scene before he was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. The doctor travelled with the patient to continue emergency medical treatment en-route.

“Unfortunately, the man’s injuries were considered extremely serious."

Mr Clarke, who underwent an emergency operation on Tuesday night, was riding his partner Michelle Bree's bike at the time of the crash.

She was today reportedly waiting anxiously for an update on his condition.

A spokesman for Stourbridge Motorcycle Club said members were keeping their fingers crossed for their pal - who is described as a "popular character" - and many took to Facebook to say prayers and send good wishes.

The driver of the van involved in the crash was uninjured.
