FUNDRAISERS across Stourbridge will be serving up cuppas and cakes this Friday (September 26) to help raise funds for cancer sufferers as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The Parish Centre of Our Lady and All Saints Catholic Church, New Road, Stourbridge, will be hosting a coffee and cake morning from 10am to 1pm, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Parishioner Caroline Clarke has organised the event in memory of her husband Laurence.

Stourbridge’s Ryemarket shopping centre is also hosting a charity coffee morning on Friday September 26.

Tables and chairs will be set up throughout the centre so people can enjoy a cuppa for a good cause; centre and shop staff will also be running a cake stall and raffle - and Costa Coffee has pledged to donate a percentage of its profits from the morning to the cancer charity.

There will also be games, a magician and balloon modelling - and the Ryemarket’s Ryely Mouse mascot will be out and about.

Centre manager Kelley Dyas said: “It's such a good cause and we wanted to do something to help raise funds."

Author Miranda Dickinson will be hosting a coffee and book signing event on Friday in aid of Macmillan.

The Fairytale of New York author will be signing copies of her romantic novels at Caprio's in Stallings Lane, Kingswinford, from 10am until midday - with proceeds going to the charity.

While Wollaston friends Sue McDowall and Sheila Wrigley are set to host their annual Macmillan coffee morning at Wollaston Methodist Church Hall, Cobden Street ,on Saturday October 4 between 9.30am and 11.30am.

Meanwhile, the News Group has raised £182.66 through a cake sale on Tuesday September 23 and an earlier raffle - and a tombola is planned for Friday to raise further funds.
