A LYE man who went shoplifting four times in a matter of days must now obey a three month curfew.

Simon Carr, aged 23, was identified on CCTV as he took alcohol from two stores in the Dudley area and was bailed by police after his arrest, said Paul Mytton, prosecuting.

But he was then caught stealing a further three bottles of alcohol from another store and after being bailed again, he was found to be in possession of a pair of stolen earphones.

Carr, of Stourbridge Road, admitted four charges of theft, possessing a small amount of cannabis found in his possession after he took the earphones and also breaching his community order.

Recorder Abigail Nixon said it was clear he had turned to crime because he had no money but she stressed that the community order had worked well when it was first imposed.

"I have been reading about you and it is clear you started this order well," she said at Wolverhampton Crown Court as she ruled she would not impose a custodial sentence because his offending had slowed down.

The recorder said the initial community order would continue to run until May 2016, gave him a new 12 month supervision order and told Carr he would have to obey the curfew between the hours of 7pm and 7am.

Richard Gibbs, defending, said Carr was now determined to stay off the "slippery slope" adding, "He is full of remorse for his actions and he wants to take a hold on his life."
