A JILTED jailbird returned to crime after his partner had found a new lover while he was in prison.

Sean Wilson, aged 27, went on a burglary spree in Dudley, Brierley Hill and Quarry Bank which saw him target 13 homes to fund his drug addiction.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court, Judge Michael Dudley heard Wilson felt devastated when he found out his ex was in a new relationship and he returned to drug taking and crime despite being on licence from a previous jail term imposed for burglary.

The judge told Wilson committing offences while on licence was an aggravating feature of the case and jailed him for four years.

He told Wilson that being burgled badly damaged the lives of people with victims becoming extremely angry and frightened to stay in their own homes.

Wilson, a man with 66 previous convictions, got into a house in Thorns Road after smashing a kitchen window and got away with property including electrical goods and a camera.

Howard Searle, prosecuting, said Wilson was arrested the same day after trying to sell his ill-gotten gains at a pawnbrokers’ shop in Dudley town centre.

Mr Searle said Wilson then admitted to police he had broken into a house in Corporation Street, Kates Hill, where he took £200 and he smashed a window to get into a property in Jackson Court where stole £400.

Wilson forced his way into a house in Halesowen Road where he was disturbed by the victim and there was a confrontation before he fled from the scene.

He also burgled a property in Acres Road, Brierley Hill, where the victim was asleep in bed and when she screamed he again ran away.

Wilson, of Central Drive, Coseley, admitted three burglary charges and he asked for nine other burglaries and an attempted burglary to be taken into consideration.

David Houldcroft, for Wilson, said his client’s life had been shattered when he heard his partner and the mother of his two children had a new man in her life.

Mr Houldcroft said: “He returned to drugs to block out the pain and anger he felt, but his drug habit then escalated and he needed money to pay for his drugs. He is ashamed at what he has done and he knows he needs to turn his life around."
