BOROUGH residents are being reminded of a new van and trailer permit scheme at a Stourbridge household waste recycling centre.

Dudley Council introduced the scheme, which applies to anyone accessing the Birmingham Street site with a trailer or commercial type vehicle, on Monday (November 3).

Permits are free and allow up to 12 visits over a 12 month period.

Only one permit will be issued per household and per vehicle.

Councillor Hilary Bills, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: "This permit scheme will help us to make sure that Dudley borough residents who pay for the site through their council tax are the only people using it.

“I would encourage anyone who uses a van or trailer to access the site to apply for their permit as soon as possible if they haven’t done so already.”

People can now apply for their permits, which are posted out within 10 working days of being approved.

Households that wish to apply need to complete an application form online at www.dudley.gov.uk/wastepermits or by calling 0300 5552345.
