KINGSWINFORD and Stourbridge Lions have kicked off their traditional series of seasonal sleigh outings to help pull in the pounds for charities.

Santa and his sleigh toured the Wordsley and Withymoor areas at the weekend and have an action-packed calendar of outings lined-up in the run up to Christmas.

This Friday (December 5) the sleigh will be bringing festive cheer and coining in the cash for good causes when it tours Kingswinford's High Acres estate.

Santa and his team of volunteers will also be out in Oldswinford on Sunday December 6, in Wollescote on Sunday December 7, on Stourbridge's Penfields estate on Friday December 12, in Norton on Saturday December 13, in Wordsley (Barnett Lane area) on Sunday December 14, in Wall Heath on Friday December 19, in Valley Fields, Kingswinford, on Saturday December 20 and Pedmore on Sunday December 21.

The sleigh will also be outside Tesco in Stourbridge on Saturday December 13 and outside Aldi in Wollaston on December 20.

Brierley Hill Foodbank and the RNIB are among the good causes set to benefit from this year's charity sleigh run.

Karen Rice, spokesman for the Lions group, said: "Last year we had 27 organisation who benefited from the sleigh collections and we gave out cheques to the value of £10,250.

"We try to encourage as many local charities, youth organisations and good causes to help us with the sleigh and static collections as possible and if people are interested they should contact us on sleigh.master@kandslions.org.uk."

All Friday outings will start at 6pm and weekend sleigh runs will get underway at 4pm.
