VISITORS attending Stourbridge College's open night this evening (Thursday) can take a sneak peak at the £5million redevelopment project which is due to be completed within the next fortnight.

The refurbished Hagley Road centre is set to be handed over on Monday February 16 with staff and students expected to be moving in during early March.

Already the state-of-the-art development has created a real wow factor with passers-by.

The redevelopment comprises a spacious state-of-the-art reception area, a purpose-built health and social care and early years centre of excellence.

There are also new meeting rooms, fully equipped training rooms and new IT suites.

Wendy Stevens, campus head at Stourbridge College, said: "Our redevelopment is causing quite a stir locally now that the building is nearing completion and we believe it has really put the college back on the map in Stourbridge.

"Everybody is excited about the new building and can't wait to see the finished product."

Only last year, college bosses splashed out on a £1million refurbishment of the IT classrooms and science laboratories at Hagley Road, while creating a new engineering block at the same time.

The college intends to stage an official opening of the new facilities this spring.
