KINVER kids can look forward to a brand new bike track which is set to be installed in the village next month.

It will replace the existing bike track that was built in 2009 at the back of Marsh Playing Fields.

The new track will cost £23,5000 and has been designed by a former professional BMX rider, offering more scope while still catering for inexperienced enthusiasts.

Money has been provided by Kinver Action Group after consultations with village youngsters.

Much of the funding was obtained through the BIG Lottery and the Ken Wrigley Memorial Charity who both supplied £10,000 each.

Further money came from the County Local Members fund and the Anthony and Gwendoline Wylde Memorial Charity.

Another £1,500 was provided with a grant from Kinver Parish Council.

Kinver Action Group's Margaret Rogers said: "The new track will have lots of lanes and crossovers, making it more challenging to riders, which is what they wanted.

"The real bonus was provided by the BIG Lottery where the money came through from my initial application within a little over eight weeks, when we expected it to take much longer.

"Work will start in early March, depending on the weather and there is a maintenance programme in place, once the track is built."
