A CHILDREN’S centre in Lye has undergone a substantial makeover after enlisting the help of a Wollaston artist.

Professional artist Vanessa Jackson has created a mural depicting the well known bible event of Noah’s Ark onto the walls of Christ Church’s crèche.

The mural features a variety of animals within a landscape of countryside, open plains, waterfalls, mountains and a rainbow.

Vanessa said: “I was thrilled when to be approached me to create the mural several months ago and very much look forward to being at the Easter Sunday Dedication Service and celebrate the formal opening of the crèche.

“The room was quite dull before but now it is full of life for the children who will visit.

“A number of parishioners, children and people who play a number of roles in running the church and their activities have seen the mural during its development and their fantastic response has made a heartfelt impression on me.”

About a year ago Vanessa experienced a dramatic change in her life and has been using her talents to express her feelings in the painting.

She said she wanted to redecorate the crèche with a familiar story that is also very personal to her.
