AN AMBLECOTE woman has told of her excitement of starting her own business from home.

Kitty Westwood, owner of Kitty’s Bakehouse, recently set up her own vintage china hire and afternoon tea service with support from the Prince's Trust.

She said: “I attended the Prince's Trust enterprise programme workshop, where I was able to learn the basics of running my own business.

“I then had some help putting a business plan together, before my business was put forward to a board at the trust.”

Kitty, who lives with her partner Mark, step-son Dylan and two-year-old son Joel, has received a £500 loan from the trust to kick-start her venture where she also hires out wedding cakes.

The 23-year-old said: “I have always loved baking and afternoon teas and felt like starting my own business was a natural progression.

“When I had my first order I was both excited and nervous. It was a brilliant feeling when everything was finished and the customer was happy.

“I have a couple of orders at the moment and believe the approaching summer season will be the perfect time for customers to experience a vintage tea party of their own.”

Kitty hopes her business will grow over the coming months where she will build on her vintage china collection.
