The town's police community support officers will now work alongside council enforcement officers in the town centre to hand out fines to litterbugs in a joint crackdown.
Anyone spotted dropping litter will be slapped with a £50 fine and if they fail to pay up the council will take them to court.
The tie-up scheme kicked-off in Dudley town centre on Friday March 2.
Inspector Mark Bramwell, from Dudley police station, said: "We're delighted to work with Dudley Council to help reduce problems such as litter being dropped in the town centre.
"I'm sure extending the team of officers able to fine people caught dropping litter will have a positive impact on the town centre."
Cleaning litter from borough streets currently costs tax payers £1.7million a year.
Cllr Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for the environment, said: "Cleaning litter from borough streets costs tax payers £1.7million a year.
"This link-up with the police is another positive step that will increase the team of people able to hand out fines and reduce the problem of litter in the town centre.
"We have been using a similar approach with the police in Halesowen since September 2005 which has also been very successful."
