A WOMAN who left Black Country brides in the lurch on their big day has admitted fraudulent trading.

The owner of A Little Bit of Bling, Sarah Cawthorne, from Sedgley, pocketed thousands of pounds from couples after promising she would provide the décor at their wedding receptions.

The 31-year-old of Hickmerelands Lane, pleaded guilty to one charge of fraudulent trading between July 2012 and September 2013.

She admitted the offence, said Mark Jackson, prosecuting, on the basis that the business had not been set up for fraud.

“It was not a fraudulent operation from the outset,” he told Judge John Wait at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Mukhtar Ubhi, defending Cawthorne, said a pre-sentence report was necessary before the case against her could be finalised.

The judge remanded Cathorne, a woman of previous good character, on bail until April 30 when it is expected she will be sentenced for the crime.
