AN airfield near Stourbridge will once again be hosting a high-flying Bank Holiday fun day this weekend.

Halfpenny Green Airport at Bobbington will host the popular Wings and Wheels event on Easter Sunday and Monday (April 5 and 6).

The event, running from 10am to 4pm on both days, will include attractions for all the family from WWII aircraft, classic car and military vehicle displays to a large scale radio controlled model aircraft show, trial flying lessons, pleasure flights on a 1930s Dragon Rapide and helicopter rides (weather permitting).

There'll also be 1940s entertainers, a barbecue, various stalls and hangar displays.

Organiser Vaughan Meers said: "We're really pushing the boat out this time. It's going to be a fantastic show."

Money raised from the event, which is one of the biggest weekends in the calendar for the Halfpenny Green Air Scouts and Air Cadets, will go to the Tettenhall Transport Heritage Museum charity towards the restoration and preservation of exhibits at the museum.

Admission is £6 for adults, £5 for pensioners and £3 for children under 16 - or £15 for a family ticket.
