AFTER weeks of speculation the BBC has finally revealed their new Top Gear host. And it’s Chris Evans.

It’s been confirmed that the radio and television presenter has signed a three year deal to lead an all-new line-up of presenters for the popular BBC Two show.

Only a week ago, Chris revealed that he was making a ‘secret’ Top Gear show on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, saying: “We’re making a Top Gear – we’re doing a Top Gear sequence with an independent production company and we’re going to see how it goes.”

Chris said in a statement published by the BBC: “I’m thrilled, Top Gear is my favourite programme of all time.

DAVE Grohl’s accident in Sweden was serious enough for the Foo Fighters to pull out of performances at Glastonbury and Wembley Stadium.

The US rock band have axed all their remaining UK and European dates, including their Friday night slot at Worthy Farm on June 26, after the former Nirvana drummer fell off stage during a concert in Sweden last Friday, but continued playing wearing a cast despite sustaining serious injuries.

A statement on the band’s website said: “Due to injuries sustained in Dave Grohl’s fall from the stage during Foo Fighters’ June 12 show at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden, doctors have required the cancellation of the remainder of the band’s dates in the UK and Europe.”

As well as their appearance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage and Wembley, they have also scrapped gigs at Murrayfield in Edinburgh on June 23 and Festivalpark Werchter in Belgium on June 25.

VETERAN actor Sir John Hurt has been diagnosed with cancer but will keep working and says he is “more than optimistic” about his future.

The star, 75, has enjoyed a successful career with notable roles including Quentin Crisp in The Naked Civil Servant, the title role in The Elephant Man and a recurring role as Mr Ollivander in the Harry Potter films.

PALS Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw will be joining Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini on the judging panel in the new series of X Factor 2015.

The Radio 1 DJ and the singer had been hotly tipped to replace Louis Walsh and Mel B on the ITV talent show.

Channel 4 has dropped the British Comedy Awards after broadcasting the ceremony for the last four years.

The channel said that it wanted to invest in new comedy series.

Jonathan Ross has hosted the ceremony, which has caused controversy over the years.

Last year, Ross joked about the new venue – Wembley, in north-west London, for the show, which was sponsored by Lidl, as he opened the ceremony, claiming it was so awful and remote that “even the Ebola virus can’t be bothered to get the Tube here”.
