A teenaged Brierley Hill leukaemia sufferer's last wish came true when he wed his childhood sweetheart in an emotional ceremony in hospital just days before losing his fight for life.

Omar Al-Shaikh, aged 16, married teen girlfriend Amie Cresswell in a service at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital just three days before he passed away on Monday (June 22).

Dudley's top cop plans to write to the Home Secretary in a bid to prevent further protests in the town following a series of demonstrations by far right groups opposed to the building of a new mosque.

Chief Inspector Phil Dolby told a meeting on Tuesday (June 23) that he was writing a report for Home Secretary Theresa May detailing how Dudle has been affected by demonstrations - the latest of which on June 13 saw football fans opposed to plans for a new mosque marching through the streets and anti-fascist campaigners descending on the Council House steps.

In Droitwich, four people were injured after a multi-car crash which the ambulance service said could have been far more serious.

The incident happened at about 3.35pm outside the Travelodge Hotel on Rashwood Hill, Droitwich, near Chateau Impney.

Work has got underway in Kidderminster on the Wyre Forest's new leisure centre which will soon take shape on the former British Sugar site at Silverwoods.

School children, councillors and business members gathered today (Wednesday) mark the start of the construction for the leisure centre, due to open in summer 2016.

In Halesowen, travellers have returned to Hurst Green Park - sparking a row over why Dudley Council did not secure the site.

The park was given a facelift and new security in September after travellers settled on the site last Summer but new bollards designed to stop trucks and caravans entering have failed.

In Droitwich - another consultant working at a Worcestershire hospital has resigned.

In February four A&E consultants at Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital – the entire team working at the emergency department – along with another from Worcestershire Royal Hospital, handed in their notices on the same day.

Now it has been revealed another consultant at the Alex has handed in their notice.
