POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a road crash in Kidderminster which left an elderly woman seriously injured today (Wednesday, July 29).

The collision happened at around 11am this morning and saw a red Audi A3 hit a 74-year-old pedestrian on the A449 Worcester Road, near to the Hire It store.

The woman was air lifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where she remains in a critical condition, having suffered a head injury and broken legs. The driver of the Audi was uninjured.

The A449 was closed between the bus station roundabout and Cobham Road for approximately four hours to allow investigations and recovery of the vehicle, but has now since reopened.

West Mercia Police are particularly keen to trace the occupants of a blue people carrier type vehicle, which is thought to have been in the area at the time of the collision.
