I’m pretty sure a silent majority of people living within the DMBC and surrounding areas are opposed to the plans put forward by the Dudley Muslim Association for a replacement mosque in Hall Street.

From the word go, Dudley Council have proved to be indecisive in their dealings with the DMA maybe for fear of being seen to be politically incorrect.

Deadlines have been missed which in turn has only encouraged the DMA to exploit the slightest legal loopholes, to delay any final decision.

The location of the mosque is very questionable and would overlook Dudley and could be seen by some as a symbol of dominance, which has no relationship to the surrounding area.

Pete Lowe, the council leader tells us he want to “get everyone in our community involved” in the debate, well let’s have a local referendum then, so the silent majority could then have their say.

I think at this particular time this Labour council should begin a search for an alternative site for the mosque that is acceptable to everyone, before making any decision relating to the current proposals.
