HERE are the stories that have been making headlines in our part of the world, North Worcestershire and the Black Country, today, (August 24).

The search continues for a missing teenager who has not been seen since last week.

Police say Faye Fellows, aged 16, from Shrewsbury was last seen on Friday August 21.

It is understood she has connections to the Black Country and may be in the region.

The Redditch Advertiser reports police discovered a major cache of drugs after going to the home of Darren Griffin.

Griffin was found in a drunken stupor and when searched he had a small amount of cannabis, Worcester Crown Court was told.

When they went to his home the next day, police found the drugs. Grffin pleaded guilty, and has been jailed.

Meanwhile an eagle-eyed Halesowen News reader spotted what he thought were the beginnings of a tornado above Halesowen and Dudley. 

David Cooper, who has a passion for meteorology, believes he captured a tornado's distinctive funnel on Saturday evening.

The Kidderminster Shuttle reports on the storms, with one Shuttle reader managing to capture footage of clouds appearing to form into what looks likes a tornado.

David Rushby, from Kidderminster, who has been studying weather for some years, said it was rare to see these kind of storms in the UK.
