A VARIETY show in Dudley raised more than £400 for five borough charities.

Several singers and an impressionist performed their acts at the event, held at Parkes Hall Social Club on August 27.

The night, in aid of the Mayor of Dudley Councillor Steve Waltho’s chosen charities, was a hailed as a “huge success” and the club is already planning to organise another fundraising event later this year.

Cllr Waltho said: “It is great to see so many people getting involved with raising money for the charities I have chosen.

“The variety night was a lot of fun and we are hoping that the next one is even bigger and better than the last.”

The charities that Cllr Waltho has chosen to support are More Mascots Please, The Hope Centre, The What Centre, The West Midlands Branch of Lupus UK and the Leukemia Unit Appeal at Russells Hall Hospital.

The next mayoral charity fundraiser will be a psychic event at the Saracen’s Head in Stone Street, Dudley, at 7pm on September 20.
