NIGHTCLUB lovers are set to have more choice in their weekly hot spot as a new venue is launched tomorrow night (Friday, September 4).

Based at the former live music venue Moochers, Eleven is a pub/bar throughout the day which transforms into a club on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

General manager, Paul Burrows, said he cannot wait for the club to open its doors to the public.

He said: “The sound systems are in, beer has been delivered today, staff are all trained and we’re having our induction tonight, so come tomorrow we’ll be ready to go.

“We’ve had a really good reaction. Everybody we’ve spoke to has been really positive and the previous owners have been helpful.

“Our promo team has been out speaking to people in town and they have received great feedback.

“Rather than being somewhere for live music, we’re going to be more of an all round venue/pub/bar. We don’t see ourselves in competition with anybody else as we aim to do our own thing. Something that can be unique to Stourbridge.”

From 3pm weekdays and noon at weekends, the venue will open as a pub, broadcasting live sport on its many TV screens.

Paul said: “The front end is going to be more of a pub and bar, with five TV screens showing live sport and we’ll also have machines and pub games.

“Then we will open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for our club nights. We’ll have live bands as often as we can, comedy nights and we’ve also got a big screen in the main room.

“We’re holding two club nights this weekend – open until 2am – with a lot of acoustic music, cocktail nights and DJ Andy Gulch on Fridays, then live bands and DJ Al Rippin on Saturdays.”

This Saturday night, the club’s headline act is The Subterraneans. The band has sold out venues up and down the country playing gigs alongside Carol Decker and Jools Holland's Jam House.
