A WOLLASTON school pupil who has been growing his signature ‘rattail’ for the past six years has had it chopped off for charity.
Connor Griffiths, a year 7 pupil at Ridgewood High School, had the scissors taken to his hair in front of his class-mates during a recent school house assembly.
He decided to cut of his lock in a bid to raise about £200 for Cancer Research UK, but following the chop he had already collected £600.
Connor said: “I have had members of my family and friends been hit by this terrible disease and I just want to do something to help.
“I have been growing my rattail for 6 years and have put up with lots of funny remarks over the years and sometimes funny looks.
“But this has been very important to me and with the help of friends and family I have raised money for such an incredible charity.”
Cancer Research UK's work is almost entirely funded by the public, with more than 40,000 people regularly volunteering at fundraising events.
