This Saturday is social enterprise day SOCIAL enterprises across the borough will this weekend be signposted to help and support offered by Dudley Council as part of this year’s national Social Saturday event.

On Saturday October 10, Dudley Council will be using social media to have a conversation with people thinking of starting a social enterprise or budding social entrepreneurs looking for advice - to point them in the direction of the support available in the borough and the West Midlands.

Khurshid Ahmed, Dudley’s cabinet member for planning and economic development, said: “Our aim is to help social enterprise ventures, not only to start well to but remain in business for the long term.

“We are committed to doing the best we can to support and develop local communities through our Love Your Community initiative.”

As part of its aims to encourage the growth of local social enterprises, which trade quality items and services and invest profits back into the community, the council is joining a national campaign to point businesses towards organisations that can support them.

And later this autumn, social enterprises will be invited to a Meet the Buyer event at Brierley Hill Civic Hall on Friday November 27.
