VETERANS will be marking Remembrance Sunday with a series of services and parades around the borough.

In Stourbridge, old soldiers will muster outside the Council House in Mary Stevens Park, Norton, at 10.40am on Sunday November 8 before marching to the recently-restored war memorial where a service of Remembrance will take place at 10.55am. It will be followed by a two-minute silence at 11am and a wreath-laying ceremony.

Veterans will then march to the band stand and back and there will be a gathering at the Royal British Legion HQ in Enville Street.

In Quarry Bank - a service will be held at 10.30am at Christ Church. Afterwards veterans will march from Park Road to Stevens Park for a wreath-laying ceremony at around 11.45am.

Ahead of Remembrance Sunday - Quarry Bank Royal British Legion will be host its annual poppy concert on Friday November 6 at Quarry Bank Labour Club from 8pm. Admission is £5 on the door.

In Lye - British Legion members, scouts, guides and boys' brigade members will be parading from Clinic Drive at 9.45am, along the bypass, down Jackson Street and through the High Street to Christ Church where a service will be held outside at 10am.

A Remembrance Sunday service will also be held at Bethel Chapel, Hill Street, Wollescote, on Sunday at 6pm.

In Brierley Hill - a service will take place at St Michael’s Church and wreaths will be laid at the war memorial on Church Hill, where people are asked to gather at 10.45am.

Wordsley's Holy Trinity Church will hold a service of Remembrance at 9.30am and wreaths will be laid at the cenotaph at 11am.

And in Kingswinford, old soldiers will parade from the Royal British Legion HQ at 10.30am to St Mary's Church where a short service will take place at the war memorial outside ahead of a church service.

Afterwards veterans will make a return march to their Summerhill headquarters. Barriers will be in place for the duration of the parades which often comprise up to 500 people.

Dudley South MP Mike Wood will be among those turning out this year along with legion members, the women’s section, cadet forces, scouts and guides.

The Clent, Belbroughton and Fairfield Royal British Legion will be hold its Remembrance parade in Belbroughton this year ahead of a service at Holy Trinity Church, in Bradford Lane, at 10.45am.

Those wishing to take part can meet at The Talbot pub car park, Hartle Lane, at 10.15am.

Meanwhile, Blakedown and Hagley Royal British Legion will hold its Remembrance service at Blakedown Church this year.

Veterans will muster at Blakedown Railway Station car park in Mill Lane at 10.15am for a parade to the church where a service will be held at 10.45am.
