BLACK Country band WEAK13 are set to launch their first-ever full studio album at an event in Birmingham this Friday (November 6).

The three-piece band's debut album, They Live, has taken three years to produce and will finally be launched at PLUG nightclub in Digbeth on Friday November 6.

Engineered by John Stewart, of Coventry prog metal band Eight Great Fears, and mastered by Henry Smithson, who has worked for The Stereophonics, 2 Unlimited and the Foo Fighters, the recording comprises 11-tracks although the band penned around 40 numbers during the recording sessions.

Singer and guitarist Nick J Townsend said: "We wanted to make sure they were 11 pretty darn good tracks; we've got no fillers."

Bass player Wesley Smith added: “We wanted to create an album that production-wise is of the same high standard as those classic albums you love by bands like Pink Floyd, Metallica or Nirvana. It's pretty big sounding."

Limited edition signed hard copies of the album will be available on the night, which will also see DJ Pandora Rox of Eddies rock club in Birmingham playing tunes from artists who have supported WEAK13 over the years.

Drummer Neel Parmar said: “It's fitting to make sure many of the bands that have ever crossed paths with Nick or WEAK13 are saluted on the launch night so we've made sure we have a top DJ and Pandora Rox will be on the decks."

The band will also be filming a music video at the launch. Doors open at 9pm and entry is £4 but fans wearing an official WEAK13 T-shirt will get in free.
