MORE than £4,000 has been raised by Mount Pleasant Primary School in Quarry Bank as part of this year’s ‘Youth Against Cancer Week’.
Between October 12 and 18, the school held a number of fun running activities within their usual PE lessons and the pupils were sponsored by their parents to take part.
The week also aimed to raise awareness of the disease with the children, which sees seven young people a day diagnosed.
The funds raised by the school are now being donated to the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust to invest in research and projects, as well as supporting the 39 hospitals throughout the UK and Ireland who admit young cancer patients.
A representative from the trust will be joining in with the next whole school assembly, where the pupils will present a cheque.
