A BIG-HEARTED Wollescote teenager hopes to help young cancer sufferers by having her long locks chopped off for charity.
Abbie Checketts, a student at Pedmore Technology College and Community School, plans to have her flowing mane shaved off in school in front of fellow pupils on Tuesday December 15.
The 13-year-old, from Brook Crescent, has already raised £1,700 in sponsorship and she plans to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for young cancer patients.
Her proud mum Shelley Checketts said: "She saw something on the telly about the Little Princess Trust and said she wanted to raise money for them.
"Her friends have all sponsored her and she's really excited about it."
Anyone wishing to make a donation in support of Abbie's fundraising efforts can contact Lorraine Turner at Pedmore Technology College and Community School on 01384 816660 or email lturner2@pedmoretc.dudley.sch.uk
