THE moment a car was petrol bombed in Wrens Nest has been caught on CCTV.
Rik Freeman's Volkswagen Scirocco was targeted at 3.24am this morning (Saturday).
The 50-year-old, of Willow Road, was woken up by his daughter, who had looked out of the window after hearing a noise and saw the flames.
He rushed outside and managed to put the blaze out, just moments before fire crews arrived.
Mr Freeman said: "The damage was pretty bad. The insurance company have taken it away now but it's probably a write-off. That'll be £12,000 down the drain."
The culprit has been caught on camera as Mr Freeman installed cameras outside his house after a spate of problems last year.
"Someone was stabbing our car tyres, we went through nine or 10 and it cost around £500," he said.
"The police were involved but as soon as we installed the CCTV it stopped and I thought that was the end of it but this has taken it to a whole new level.
"The footage shows someone walking down the street and then throwing the petrol bomb under my car.
"It looks like a man or a youth but they are covered up.
"Someone obviously has a grudge against me - I wouldn't mind if I went around annoying people but I don't.
"That's the scary thing about it. What's it going to be next? Are they going to target the house?"
He continued: "I have no idea who it could be but it has come at a really bad time - my dad has just been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer."
A West Midlands Police spokesman said the incident is being treated as arson and an investigation is under way.
Anyone with information should call 101.
